Chasing Sunsets and Smiles: My Adventure Through The Land of Smiles
Chasing Sunsets and Smiles: My Adventure Through The Land of Smiles
I have been traveling from a very young age with my family. Each journey offers a fresh perspective, a chance to step outside my comfort zone and an opportunity to create unforgettable memories. But our journey to Thailand was something else and extra special. As my sister lives in another country and she couldn't visit us for like 3 years because of the corona pandemic and we were also stuck in our house for quite a long time. So this trip was such a refreshment and a chance to create amazing memories with my family.
Thailand is known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The country's diverse experiences, from the bustling city life of Bangkok to the serene beaches and ancient temples, offer something for every type of traveler.
I still remember those feelings when I met my sister at the airport. We were so happy to finally hug each other after such a long time. I think everyone will know this feeling when their family member is living abroad.
Starting of our journey
We began our journey by exploring the city of angels, Bangkok. As we arrived really late, we went directly to our hotel. Feeling exhausted, we couldn't fully explore the beautiful Narathiwas hotel. The next morning marked the beginning of our temple marathon. Then we met our private guide, such a warm and humble lady she was. This is why it is called the land of smiles because of the friendly and hospitable nature of the Thai people. With her expert guidance, we embarked on an unforgettable journey, visiting the Golden Buddha, Wat Arun, and the majestic Grand Palace. A quick stop at the bustling floating market for snacks gave us a brief pause before diving back into the adventure, which ended at the lively Train Night Market Ratchada. The next day we spent all our time in shopping malls and parks.
Now comes the most unforgettable next 4 days and one of a kind experience of our entire journey. This was the most hectic day ever. We took a flight from Bangkok to Surat Thani and it took another 2 hours to reach our destination, Khao Sok National Park. Then we started our boat trip to the Panvaree resort, the beautiful resort surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and lush rainforest, a picture perfect atmosphere that calms your mind. What makes it unique is its floating bungalows, allowing us to wake up to panoramic views right from our doorsteps. This was truly an unforgettable escape into nature.
The next day I woke up at 5 am just to go on an early morning boat trip and see the sunrise. There was another experience besides the mesmerizing sunrise at Cheow Lan Lake, I got to make so many new friends from different cultures even though we had very short time together but we enjoyed it a lot. The boat trips, having breakfast together and kayaking for the very first time. The breakfast, lunch and dinner was so delicious that I'm drooling just by remembering it.
Our next trip was a 4 hour drive from Khao Sok to Rawai Beach. During our Phuket trip, we spent the day exploring three stunning beaches: Patong, Kamala, and Kata. Then we returned to our hotel and relaxed a bit in the swimming pool before heading out to the lively Rawai Fish Market. There, we enjoyed an incredible dinner at a local restaurant, sampling a variety of new dishes. The seafood in Phuket was absolutely the best I've ever had! I'm not a big fan of seafood but still loved it.
Next came another unforgettable adventure: our Phi Phi Islands trip! We zipped across the water by speedboat, swam over the stunning coral reefs of Pileh Lagoon, and enjoyed a beachside buffet lunch on Phi Phi Leh. My first-ever snorkeling experience at Bamboo Island was beyond words—I was completely hooked! The vibrant fish and coral were amazing, and I can’t wait to do it again. We also explored Monkey Beach and the famous Maya Bay. On top of that, we spotted two dolphins on our way back, and I couldn’t believe my eyes—my first dolphin sighting ever!
This trip exceeded all my expectations. From exploring stunning beaches to snorkeling for the first time, every experience felt like a new adventure. The vibrant culture, delicious seafood, and natural beauty made the trip unforgettable. I’m leaving with countless memories and a desire to return.
