Waves & Wanderlust: A Memorable Journey and A Lost Keepsake

It was a rose gold color watch. The dial of the watch used to shine and reflect various colors as a rainbow under the sunlight.

One of my most cherished watches given to me by my
grandmother on my 15th birthday. She is no more but her watch was my companion. But all of a sudden a tragedy took place.

A Sudden Trip to Kuakata

After taking all the academic pressures for the whole week we crave for some refreshment on our weekend.

So, on a random Thursday morning, while i was gossiping with my sister we were planning what we should do on our weekend. It was a pretty exhausting week for us and our exam was also knocking at the door. Thus, we badly needed some refreshment for regaining our focus. Then, out of nowhere we decided we to visit the Kuakata sea beach.

As you think, so do you. We planned to go there by road. With Kuakata Express at 7 pm we started for our long cherished destination. We all had goosebumps as it was going to be an
exciting weekend after ages for us. Planning about visiting different spots, we fell asleep and when we woke up we reached the Kuakata bus stand. It was 4 am at dawn. Watching the
sunrise and sunset was our main target as the great Sagar Kannya is popular for it.

Tourist Spots That We Visited

After reaching the Kuakata bus stand, we directly went to the sunrise point to see the mesmerising view of Kuakata for which we just traveled almost 300 km. So we hired an auto
rickshaw and went to " Kauar Char. "

Finally, we could witness the astonishing beauty when a radiant sun rises from the end of the eternal ocean. The high waves of the ocean were trying to catch the all ruddy sky. Just seeing
this view was a million times worth of travelling this long distance.

With a refreshed mood and soul we returned to Kuakata Zero Point. We went to our hotel which we booked online the previous night. After getting fresh we took a power nap.

Around 9 a.m we went to visit more exciting tourist spots of Kuakata. We were all hungry to the death. So, we had our breakfast from a well known hotel. The food was spicy and
tasty and also pricey, bargaining helped though.

My dad booked a trawler and our next destination was " Fatrar Ban " which is the part of Shundarban and near the border of Bangladesh. We went to Shahbajpur and after 1 hour trawler journey we reached " Fatrar Ban ". The trawler journey was so fun, when the trawler rode the high waves of bay of bengal it was a bit scary but inside of our soul, we enjoyed every bit of that.

The trawler driver guided us in the deep forest of Shundarban. We trailed a muddy narrow road and around us it was calm and mighty Shundarban with it's all gravity. We were thrilled
but our guide assured us that this part of Shundarban is safe from wild animals and royal bengal tigers. After trailing for 20 minutes, we reached a short lagoon with high waves and the
beach was full of aerial roots of different trees. No wonder Sundarban is called the biggest mangrove forest!

While returning by trawler, i suddenly noticed my watch was no longer with me. I lost it in the Sundarban. I became so sad that, at the point i balled my eyes out. It was the last gift by my grandma. My parents tried to calm me down but i couldn't take it normally.

After the incident, we visited "Laal Kakrar Char" , " Jhau Ban" . But the excitement inside my mind transformed into sadness.

We returned to the hotel and took a shower. Then, we had our lunch at the hotel's cafeteria and again went to visit the rest of the tourist spots of Kuakata in the afternoon. We again hired an auto rickshaw and it took us to "Fish Market", "The Buddhist
Temple" , "Well of Kuakata" and "Rakhine Polly". We almost visited every spot of Kuakata and at last we enjoyed the sunset at "Lebur Char." It was surreal!

During the sunset, I remember a quote by Swedish author Jan Myrdal —
"Traveling is not just seeing the new; it is also leaving behind. I am leaving behind something and taking some experience, memory and a good family time with me. We should value each
moment so that we don't regret it later. Because everything passing by will be a memory.

After that, we came back to Zero Point sea beach. My dad went to buy some sea food and sea fishes. We went to buy some souvenirs from the markets as well. We bought pearl bracelets,
necklaces and lots of jhinuk (oyster shell). My dad bought some fishes called Coral and Tuna and crabs, some Rupchada fish too. The seller did BBQ those for us.

We ate at the beach with the groaning sound of the waves and the strong breeze of the sea. That's how our journey came to an end. Thus, it was a short and tiring journey with a limited budget but it was so refreshing and enjoyable to us. We enjoyed it with all our heart.

Now if you ask me, Was it worth travelling to Kuakata?

Though i lost my vintage, precious watch. Also, i felt many things are overpriced in Kuakata, comparing normal markets and food but i consider this as a valuable investment for
wonderful lifelong memory. Travelling Kuakata was also worth it and it removed my monotony of back to back classes, quizzes. So I'll suggest all of you to travel and explore the beauties of Bangladesh. Sudden plans are best!

The saddest part is, I could never forget the watch which carries thousands of memories. Still my heart aches whenever i remember the loss. You know what loss i am referring to!
